If you’re not upset about Katniss, Tonto, or Kahn being played by white people, but you are upset about Annie being played by a black girl, you’re probably racist.
And by probably I mean definitely.
[Edit: If you’re one of the many who asked where the numbers come from.]
USA USA [buffering] USA!
That internet speed in Korea is no joke. Download a whole movie in 3-5 mins. No caps on anything, download as much as you want.
I don’t care why I’m queer.
I don’t care why you’re queer (or not).
I don’t care how (if?) our brains cause us to be this way.
I don’t want anyone to research why I’m queer.
If they research it, they’ll find a cause. If they find a cause, they’ll look for a cure.

"I’m a badass because I’m nice!"
Because I know a great deal about learning theory
Because I understand the way the motivational circuit operates in humans (well, everything with a nervous system organized roughly like ours)
I recognize that anybody who’s been exposed to psychology on a 101 level thinks that organisms respond better to positive reinforcement, but that’s because you only learn about conditioning (the simplest form of learning) on that level.
When you get into the guts of motivational theory (and understand that I’m grossly oversimplifying here but this is the crux of the thing), you see that both positive and negative emotions profoundly affect behavior. Positive emotions mean “keep doing this thing” or “keep moving towards this goal” while negative emotions mean “woah stop” or “change something because this isn’t working”. You yourself likely recognize these things in your own behavior patterns.
And so I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that comfortable people do not change their behavior, that’s literally what comfortable *means* from a motivational standpoint—“keep doing the thing you’re doing because it’s working for you”
And knowing these things, I have no interest in making education gentle or comfortable for people with privilege, who need to change the way they act in order to stop harming people
